The National Highways Authority of India introduced a new toll pass, outlining who can obtain it, how to apply and the associated costs.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out a new toll pass aimed at simplifying fee collection for frequent highway users. In its announcement, NHAI detailed the categories of commuters who qualify for the pass, the steps required to submit an application and the fee structure applicable to different vehicle types.

According to the guidelines, regular commuters, fleet operators and other eligible users can register for the pass through the official NHAI portal or designated service centres. Applicants are required to provide standard vehicle and personal information, after which the pass is issued electronically.

The cost of the pass varies based on the vehicle class and the duration of validity, with a one‑time issuance fee and periodic renewal charges. NHAI has also indicated that the pass will enable automatic toll deductions, reducing the need for cash transactions at toll plazas.

The authority expects the new system to enhance traffic flow and improve revenue transparency across the national highway network. Further details on eligibility criteria and fee schedules are available on the NHAI website.
