The National Green Tribunal has issued formal notices to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary and the District Collector of Solan concerning alleged violations at the Majra waste‑processing plant.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has taken suo motu action against the waste‑processing facility at Majra in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh. In its order, the tribunal directed the state’s Chief Secretary and the District Collector of Solan to appear and respond to the alleged environmental breaches at the plant.
According to the notice, the NGT seeks clarification on whether the plant is operating without the requisite environmental clearances and if it is causing pollution of air, water or soil in the surrounding area. The tribunal has also asked the officials to submit any compliance reports, monitoring data or remedial measures already undertaken.
