Bihar hosted an international U20 rugby sevens series that attracted teams from several countries. The New Zealand Under‑20 squad captured attention by performing the traditional haka before their matches, a rare sight for Indian spectators.
On the field, the Kiwis displayed superior speed and skill, winning their opening games convincingly and eventually clinching the series title. Their dominance was evident in both attack and defence, with multiple tries scored throughout the tournament.
Organisers praised the event for raising the profile of rugby sevens in the state and noted that the New Zealand team's performance will inspire local players. The series concluded with a closing ceremony that highlighted cultural exchange between the visiting athletes and the host community.
The successful staging of the tournament underscores Bihar's growing capability to host international sporting events, and officials hope it will pave the way for more such fixtures in the future.
