Meteorologists report a fresh low-pressure area developing over the Bay of Bengal after Cyclone Arnab, but it poses no immediate risk to Kolkata.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has identified a new low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal following the passage of Cyclone Arnab. Satellite imagery shows the system consolidating, but wind speeds and sea‑level pressures remain well below cyclone thresholds. IMD officials have issued a bulletin stating that the system is being closely monitored for any signs of intensification. At present, the low-pressure area is projected to stay offshore, keeping Kolkata and the surrounding coastal districts out of the immediate danger zone. Residents are advised to stay tuned to official updates, although no evacuation or precautionary measures are currently required.
