New FASTag Rule to Simplify Travel at 5 Karnataka Toll Plazas

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has rolled out a new FASTag rule that applies to five major toll plazas in Karnataka. Under the updated policy, vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag will be able to cross these toll points without stopping, as the system will automatically deduct the toll amount from the linked account. The change is expected to reduce congestion and improve travel time for daily commuters and long‑haul trucks alike. The rule will take effect from 1 September 2024, and the government has urged all users to ensure their FASTag accounts are topped up and linked to their vehicle registration. Transport officials say the move is part of a broader effort to digitise toll collection across the state.
