The Goa government’s transport department has announced plans to construct an additional exit on the Porvorim Corridor, a key arterial road linking the state capital with the northern suburbs. The proposed ramp is expected to divert a portion of the heavy commuter flow that currently merges onto the main carriageway during peak hours, thereby reducing queue lengths and travel time.
Local officials say the design will integrate with existing junctions and include proper signage and lighting. Preliminary surveys indicate that the corridor experiences congestion levels of up to 70 % during morning and evening rush periods.
If approved, construction could begin later this year, with an estimated completion timeline of 12‑18 months, subject to funding and land acquisition clearances.
