New auto‑rickshaw fare rates take effect in Dakshina Kannada from Sept 1

The state transport authority in Karnataka issued a circular revising the fare structure for auto‑rickshaws operating throughout Dakshina Kannada district. Under the new schedule, the base fare and per‑kilometre charge have been adjusted to reflect recent fuel price changes and operating costs.

The revised rates will become mandatory for all registered auto‑rickshaw drivers from September 1. Operators have been instructed to display the updated fare chart inside their vehicles and to inform passengers of the changes.

Transport officials said the revision aims to balance commuter affordability with the livelihood of drivers. They also warned that any deviation from the prescribed rates could attract penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act.

The announcement was made through an official press release by the Karnataka Transport Department and has been reported by ANI News.
