Neerja Modi School conducted a hands‑on Dabu printing workshop aimed at familiarising students with Rajasthan's traditional textile art.
Neerja Modi School organized a practical workshop on Dabu printing, a centuries‑old block‑printing technique native to Rajasthan. The event was designed to give students a direct experience of the state’s rich textile heritage and to foster appreciation for indigenous crafts.
Dabu printing, characterized by its earthy red and indigo hues, is traditionally practiced in the villages of Marwar and Jodhpur. Artisans use hand‑carved wooden blocks to imprint intricate patterns on cotton and silk fabrics, a process that reflects both cultural narratives and sustainable production methods.
During the session, students learned to carve simple motifs, prepare natural dyes, and operate the printing blocks under the guidance of local craftsmen. School officials said the workshop aims to inspire future designers and support the revival of regional handloom skills.
