The National Disaster Response Force has moved teams from Chennai to Andhra Pradesh as Cyclone Murasu approaches the coast, with officials tracking its position, expected landfall time and wind intensity.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has mobilised several rescue teams from its Chennai headquarters and sent them to Andhra Pradesh in anticipation of Cyclone Murasu's impact on the state's coastline.

Meteorological agencies are closely monitoring the cyclone's current location and projecting that it could make landfall later today along the Andhra coast. Wind speeds are expected to rise sharply, prompting heightened alert levels across vulnerable districts.

State authorities in Andhra Pradesh have activated emergency operation centres, coordinated with local police and health services, and begun pre‑emptive evacuations in low‑lying areas. The NDRF units are equipped with rescue boats, medical kits and sandbag supplies to support these efforts.

Officials have urged residents to stay indoors, secure property, and follow instructions from disaster management officials as the storm approaches. Continuous updates will be provided through official channels as the situation evolves.
