A senior NDA ally leader has called on the Tamil Nadu government to replace Indian Forest Service officers serving in rural development positions.

A senior leader of a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partner has publicly asked the Tamil Nadu government to withdraw Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers who are currently holding posts in the state's rural development machinery.

The demand was made during a meeting with state officials, where the ally leader argued that the placement of IFS officers in rural development roles does not align with the state's administrative priorities.

Tamil Nadu's administration has not yet issued a formal response, but the request adds to ongoing discussions about the deployment of central services officers in state‑run development programmes.

If the state acts on the recommendation, it could lead to a reshuffle of personnel and a shift toward appointing officers from other services to manage rural development initiatives.
