The United Forum of Bank Unions has called off the three‑day strike planned for Monday after a late‑night meeting with the Indian Banks' Association.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) announced on Sunday that it would defer the three‑day nationwide strike that was set to begin on Monday, citing recent discussions with the Indian Banks' Association (IBA).
Representatives of UFBU and IBA met late on Sunday, and both sides said the dialogue helped address several points of contention that had led to the strike threat.
Banking officials said the postponement will prevent disruption to services for millions of customers and allow more time for negotiations on wage and workload issues. The unions indicated that a new schedule for industrial action, if any, will be communicated after further talks.
