The National Lok Adalat in Himachal Pradesh concluded settlement of 1.11 lakh pending cases, marking a major de‑congestion of the state’s courts.

The latest round of the National Lok Adalat, a government‑run dispute‑resolution drive, wrapped up in Himachal Pradesh after settling 111,000 cases. The massive settlement covered civil, family and small‑value commercial disputes, allowing parties to resolve matters without prolonged litigation.

Officials said the Lok Adalat sessions were held across multiple districts, with legal aid teams and mediators facilitating agreements. The outcome is expected to ease the backlog in district courts and provide quicker relief to citizens.

State authorities hailed the exercise as a success of the government's effort to promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, emphasizing that such initiatives help deliver justice faster and reduce court congestion.

The settlement figures were released by the Himachal Pradesh High Court’s administrative office, which confirmed that the resolved cases span a range of issues from property disputes to matrimonial matters.

The National Lok Adalat will continue its periodic drives in the state, aiming to further reduce pending cases and strengthen access to justice for ordinary people.
