The National Green Authority has launched a drone‑based survey of the Bhojtal lake boundary and its adjoining green belt, starting from Gaurhar Mahal and covering sensitive zones such as Khanugav, Koephija and Halalpura.
The National Green Authority (NGA) team has commenced a drone‑based aerial survey of the Bhojtal lake perimeter and the surrounding green belt in Madhya Pradesh. The operation began from the historic Gaurhar Mahal and is focused on mapping the lake's boundary, identifying encroachments and verifying the condition of environmental infrastructure.
Surveyors are flying drones over several vulnerable locations, including Khanugav, Koephija and Halalpura, to capture high‑resolution imagery. Early observations have noted the disappearance of some Forest‑to‑Land (FTL) monitoring towers and the presence of a six‑foot fill material in certain sections of the green belt.
The data collected will be used to assess compliance with environmental regulations, guide remedial actions and support future conservation planning for the lake and its catchment area. The NGA has indicated that the findings will be compiled into a detailed report for state authorities.
Local officials have welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that precise aerial mapping can help prevent illegal construction and protect the ecological balance of the region.
