The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting confirmed that the 2024 National Film Awards ceremony will take place at the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya, Gujarat, on September 22. The decision places the country's premier film honors on a new, grandiose platform, with the monument's sprawling grounds set to host a red‑carpet evening for the film fraternity.
Organisers said the venue was chosen to showcase India's cultural heritage alongside its cinematic achievements. The event will feature the usual award presentations, performances and a gala dinner, with industry veterans, actors and filmmakers expected to walk the red carpet against the backdrop of the 182‑metre tall statue.
Logistical preparations are underway, including temporary seating, lighting and security arrangements to accommodate thousands of guests and media personnel. The ceremony is also slated to be broadcast live on national television, offering viewers a unique visual of the awards ceremony framed by one of the world’s tallest statues.
