Nashik Faces Weekly Water Cuts Due to Low Dam Levels

🗓 21 Jun 2026, 08:02 AM 👁 1

Nashik Municipal Corporation has introduced weekly water supply interruptions every Saturday in June and July, with a shift to an alternate-day schedule in August, owing to delayed monsoons and reduced dam water levels.

Residents of Nashik are experiencing significant water supply disruptions as the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has implemented weekly water cuts every Saturday. This measure, which began in June and is set to continue through July, is a direct response to the delayed monsoon season and the consequently low water levels in the city's primary water sources.

The NMC typically draws 600 Million Liters per Day (MLD) of raw water from the Gangapur and Mukne dams to meet the demands of its extensive 2,502-kilometer pipeline network. However, the current water scarcity has necessitated these rationing measures to conserve the available resources.

Looking ahead, the water cut schedule is expected to be modified in August. For a period of 11 days during the month, water supply will be provided on an alternate-day basis, indicating the ongoing challenges in water availability for the city.
