Rajasthan MLA Naresh Meena has announced that he will leave the Aam Aadmi Party and contest the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections on a Bahujan Samaj Party ticket, targeting constituencies including Bundi, Baran and Devli-Uniyara.

Rajasthan MLA Naresh Meena announced on Thursday that he would sever his ties with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and contest the forthcoming Panchayati Raj elections on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket. The move comes as the state gears up for the elections scheduled for the next few months.

Meena, who has represented the Bunda constituency for several terms, said that the decision was taken after a series of discussions with BSP leaders. He stated that the party’s ideology aligns more closely with his vision for local governance and that he believes a BSP platform would better serve the people of Bunda, Baran and Devli-Uniyara.

The announcement has sent ripples through Rajasthan’s political landscape. AAP, which had recently been building a presence in the region, will now have to reassess its strategy for the local polls. Meanwhile, BSP officials expressed enthusiasm, noting that Meena’s experience could strengthen their campaign in the key constituencies.

Meena’s next steps involve filing his nomination papers and launching a campaign that focuses on development issues such as water supply, road infrastructure and rural employment. The BSP has already begun preparing candidate lists for the affected districts and expects to field a strong slate in the upcoming elections.
