Nagaland authorities announced that credentials shared through the Aadhaar app will be accepted as valid proof of identity for official purposes.

Nagaland’s government has officially stated that credentials shared via the Aadhaar mobile application will be considered valid proof of identity for all official and administrative purposes. The announcement was made during a press briefing by the state’s Department of Information and Public Relations.

The decision aims to streamline verification processes and reduce paperwork for citizens applying for permits, licenses, and other government services. Officials said the move aligns with national guidelines that encourage the use of digital identity for authentication.

Citizens will now be able to submit Aadhaar‑app credentials in place of traditional documents such as passports or voter ID cards. The government also assured that data privacy and security protocols will remain intact.

The policy is expected to take effect from the beginning of the next fiscal quarter, with state agencies instructed to update their verification systems accordingly.
