The Governor of Nagaland called for government disability programmes to be extended beyond district headquarters to reach villages across the state.

Kohima, Oct 1 (India Today NE) – The Governor of Nagaland publicly appealed for the state’s disability welfare schemes to be taken beyond district headquarters and delivered directly to villages.
He highlighted that while urban centres and district towns host most rehabilitation centres and assistive‑device distribution points, a large proportion of the state’s rural population remains cut off from essential support.
The Governor urged the state administration to mobilise mobile health units, train local health workers and partner with NGOs to create a network that can reach even the most remote hamlets.
If implemented, the expanded outreach could improve education, employment and quality of life for thousands of persons with disabilities, aligning with broader national goals of inclusive development.
The call comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen disability services nationwide, and officials said they would review existing resource allocation to address the governor’s concerns.
