The Nagaland administration has directed a statewide social service drive on November 13, timed to precede the annual Hornbill Festival.

Kohima, Nagaland – The state government issued an order for a coordinated social work programme to be carried out across Nagaland on November 13. The directive comes as part of the lead‑up to the Hornbill Festival, the region’s flagship cultural event that draws visitors from across India and abroad.
The order calls on local bodies, schools and community groups to organise volunteer activities that will benefit public spaces and civic infrastructure. Officials said the initiative is intended to foster a sense of collective responsibility and to ensure the festival environment is clean and well‑maintained.
State officials will monitor the implementation through district officers, who are tasked with reporting progress to the chief minister’s office. The social work drive is expected to conclude before the festival’s opening ceremony on November 14.
The Hornbill Festival, known for showcasing Naga heritage, music and crafts, is scheduled to run for ten days. Authorities hope the preparatory social work will enhance the visitor experience and reinforce community pride.
No further details on specific projects were released at the time of the announcement.
