Nagaland Conservation Programme Engages Former Hunters to Protect Amur Falcons

A conservation programme in Nagaland has begun engaging former hunters to protect the migratory Amur falcons passing through the state. The initiative aims to convert individuals who previously hunted these birds into protectors, drawing on their familiarity with the local landscape and bird behaviour. Officials note that the involvement of ex‑hunters helps lower poaching risks and spreads awareness about the falcon’s ecological role during its migration.
