Nagaland CM Rio Calls for Centre to Re‑examine FCRA Amendments

Nagaland's Chief Minister Rio has called on the central government to reassess proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, citing concerns that the changes could affect the state's non‑governmental organisations and civil society. In a statement released on Tuesday, Rio highlighted that the amendments may impose stricter compliance requirements on NGOs that rely on foreign funding. He urged the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Union Ministry of Finance to engage with stakeholders in Nagaland to address these issues. The chief minister also said that a review would help ensure that the state's socio‑development initiatives remain uninterrupted while maintaining regulatory integrity.
