Muzaffarpur’s Baba Gharibnath Temple Celebrates Third Monday of Sawan with Grand Jalabhishek and Mahashringar

On the third Monday of Sawan, devotees witnessed a grand Jalabhishek and Mahashringar at Muzaffarpur’s Baba Gharibnath temple, where the deity was adorned with 11 quintals of wheat and other offerings.
On 15 August 2024, the Baba Gharibnath temple in Muzaffarpur observed the third Monday of Sawan with a lavish Jalabhishek ceremony. The ritual, attended by thousands of devotees, involved pouring sanctified water over the deity while chanting hymns.
Following the ablution, a Mahashringar was performed. The idol was lavishly decorated with 11 quintals of wheat, sandalwood paste, flowers, and other traditional offerings. The elaborate adornment was meant to symbolize prosperity and divine grace.
The event is a key highlight of the Sawan season, drawing pilgrims from across Bihar and neighboring states. Local priests emphasized that the ceremony reinforces faith and community bonds.
Security measures were heightened due to the large crowds, and the temple authorities ensured orderly conduct of the rituals. The day concluded with a communal Arati, echoing the chants of “Har Har Mahadev.”
