Police in Muzaffarpur have arrested JCB owner Subodh Rai for alleged demolition of walls and houses in the Jhapa‑Udandih area, bringing the total arrests to seven and filing 28 FIRs.
Muzaffarpur police on Tuesday detained Subodh Rai, identified as the owner of a JCB construction machine, in connection with illegal demolition activities in the Jhapa‑Udandih locality. The arrest follows a series of break‑ins reported in the area, where walls and residential structures were reportedly razed using heavy equipment.
The investigation, now overseen by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), has so far resulted in seven arrests, including Rai, and the filing of 28 first‑information reports (FIRs). Authorities say the SIT will examine ownership records, equipment usage logs, and any collusion with local land‑dispute parties.
Officials described the operation as part of a broader crackdown on land‑related violence in the district, emphasizing that any unlawful demolition will be pursued rigorously. The police have urged residents to cooperate with investigators and report any further incidents.
