A disability rights protest in Mumbra, Maharashtra, has been postponed until August 16 after activists demanded action on livelihood issues. Organizers said the delay would allow them to regroup and intensify their campaign.

The protest, which began on 10 August, was organized by local disability rights groups demanding better livelihood support for persons with disabilities. The demonstrators had gathered outside the Mumbra municipal office, holding banners that read "Livelihood for All" and "Equal Opportunities".

After a brief meeting with municipal officials, the protest was put on hold until 16 August, giving the organizers time to negotiate and plan a larger rally. The protest leaders stated that the postponement would not weaken their resolve but would instead allow them to strengthen their demands.

The main points of the protest include the need for accessible employment opportunities, vocational training, and financial assistance for disabled individuals. The organizers are also calling for stricter enforcement of existing disability welfare laws.

The municipal corporation has promised to review the demands and arrange a meeting with the protest leaders before the rescheduled date. The protest is expected to resume on 16 August with a larger turnout.

The organizers have urged the community to support their cause and to keep the momentum alive during the pause.
