Mumbai Under Red Alert: Heavy Rains Cause Severe Waterlogging

✍️ Hindustan Times 🗓 01 Jul 2026, 02:47 PM 👁 1

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red alert for Mumbai and its surrounding areas due to incessant rainfall. Significant waterlogging has been reported in key locations across the city.

Mumbai is currently experiencing severe weather conditions as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed the city and its adjoining regions under a Red alert. This signifies extremely heavy rainfall is expected or occurring.

The intense downpour has led to considerable waterlogging in several parts of Mumbai, notably in areas like Andheri and Worli. Commuters and residents are facing disruptions due to the inundated streets.

Reports also indicate that Powai Lake has seen a significant rise in its water levels, a direct consequence of the continuous heavy rainfall battering the metropolis.
