The Mumbai police have rejected the request for a CJP‑organized rally scheduled for October 2 at Shivaji Park, citing procedural reasons.
Mumbai police on Monday denied a formal permission request filed by the Confederation of Joint Parties (CJP) for a public rally slated for October 2 at Shivaji Park. The denial was communicated through an official notice that the application did not meet the required procedural criteria.
The police department said the decision was taken in line with existing municipal regulations governing large gatherings, and that the authorities could not grant clearance without additional documentation.
In response, CJP spokesperson Dipke warned that activists may resort to a “Jail Bharo Andolan” – a campaign of voluntary arrests – if the denial is not lifted. He urged supporters to remain peaceful while expressing disappointment over the police stance.
The development adds to a series of recent protest‑related clearances being scrutinised across the city, as civic groups seek to hold demonstrations ahead of the national holiday on October 2.
