Farmers' Congress and local villagers in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district have staged a unique protest against the dilapidated condition of the Kothi-Bhogawa-Sanawad-Omkareshwar road, planting 'besharam' (portulaca) plants in the potholes.

In a novel demonstration against the poor state of the Kothi-Bhogawa-Sanawad-Omkareshwar road in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district, farmers and villagers have taken to planting flowers in the numerous potholes that plague the route. This action highlights the severe neglect of the road's infrastructure.

The protest, organized by the Farmers' Congress and local residents, specifically targeted the road leading to Omkareshwar, a significant pilgrimage site. The initiative saw participants actively filling the large potholes with 'besharam' plants, a resilient flowering succulent often referred to as 'purslane' or 'moss rose'.

The villagers' unusual method aims to draw attention to the difficulties commuters face daily due to the road's condition, especially with preparations underway for the upcoming Simhastha religious congregation, which is expected to draw large crowds to Omkareshwar.
