The Madhya Pradesh High Court disposed of habeas corpus petitions filed on behalf of individuals detained during the CEC protest after police returned them to their families. The court held that the relief sought was no longer required as the detainees had been released.

The CEC protest led to the detention of several individuals by police in Madhya Pradesh. Relatives of the detained persons filed habeas corpus petitions before the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking their immediate release. Subsequently, the police returned the detained individuals to their respective families, rendering the continued custody unnecessary. Observing that the detainees were no longer in custody, the High Court noted that the relief sought in the petitions had already been granted by the police action. Consequently, the court disposed of the habeas corpus pleas as moot, stating that no further orders were required.
