Thousands of farmers in Bherunda, Madhya Pradesh, staged a protest, blocking the highway for five hours to demand 100% procurement of moong crop and a purchase limit of 6 quintals per acre.

Farmers in Bherunda, Madhya Pradesh, have disrupted traffic on a major highway, protesting for their demands concerning the procurement of moong crop. The demonstration, which lasted for approximately five hours, saw a large gathering of cultivators expressing their grievances.

Key demands put forth by the farmers include the assurance of 100% purchase of their moong produce by authorities and a revised procurement limit of 6 quintals per acre. This limitation is reportedly causing distress among cultivators who have harvested larger quantities.

The protest was marked by unique methods of demonstration, including the preparation and consumption of food, 'dal-baati', on the highway itself. Participants also engaged in reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. Reports indicate a tense exchange between the protesting farmers and the administrative officials present at the scene.
