The transport minister of Mozambique visited Delhi's metro system to observe its functioning and explore possible knowledge‑exchange, officials said.
New Delhi – The minister responsible for transport in Mozambique arrived in the capital on a fact‑finding mission to examine the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's (DMRC) operational model. During the visit, he was escorted through key stations, observed train dispatch procedures and toured the control centre where real‑time traffic is monitored.
The delegation met senior DMRC officials who briefed them on fare collection, maintenance protocols and the integration of renewable energy in the network. Both sides discussed avenues for technical cooperation, including staff training and the sharing of best practices in urban rail management.
While the visit focused on operational insights, officials hinted that the exchange could lay groundwork for future collaborations between the two countries in transport infrastructure development.
The minister is scheduled to return to Maputo later this week after concluding a brief itinerary that also included meetings with Indian trade representatives.
