The monsoon’s advance across Punjab has stalled, leaving the state sweltering with humidity and a peak temperature of 37 °C recorded in Firozpur.

The seasonal monsoon, which usually moves steadily across northern India, has slowed markedly over Punjab this week, according to the state’s meteorological office. Rain‑bearing clouds that were expected to spread over the region have lingered at the periphery, leaving large parts of the state under clear skies.

High humidity levels have compounded the discomfort, with residents reporting a sticky atmosphere throughout the day. Temperature readings show that Firozpur, located in the western part of the state, recorded a maximum of 37 °C, making it the hottest point in Punjab at present.

Weather forecasters caution that the delayed monsoon may push the onset of widespread showers further into the month. While no precise date can be given, officials advise the public to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours until the clouds finally arrive.
