Actor Mohit Malik said portraying Birju Lohar in the upcoming ‘Mirzapur The Movie’ requires looking beyond a simple good‑or‑bad label.
Veteran television actor Mohit Malik is set to appear as Birju Lohar in the highly anticipated Mirzapur The Movie, a cinematic extension of the popular Amazon Prime series. The film, slated for release later this year, aims to continue the gritty narrative that made the original show a cultural phenomenon.
In a recent interview, Malik emphasized that his approach to the character goes beyond the binary of hero and villain. “We cannot approach a character by simply deciding whether he is good or bad,” he said, adding that Birju’s motivations are rooted in personal loss and the complex dynamics of the Mirzapur underworld.
Malik noted that this nuanced portrayal will require him to balance the character’s ruthless actions with moments of vulnerability, reflecting the layered storytelling that fans expect. He also hinted that the script offers fresh twists that differentiate the film from the series, while retaining the raw intensity that defines Mirzapur.
The actor’s involvement has generated excitement among the franchise’s fan base, who are eager to see how Birju Lohar’s arc unfolds on the big screen. Industry insiders suggest that the film could further cement Mirzapur’s status as one of India’s most successful crime dramas.
