The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change panel has given a principle approval for the Goa‑Tamnar railway line, but has demanded a detailed wildlife mitigation plan before final clearance.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) panel has granted a principle approval for the Goa‑Tamnar railway line, a project that aims to connect Goa with the town of Tamnar in Chhattisgarh.
While the decision marks a significant step forward, the panel has stipulated that a comprehensive wildlife mitigation plan must be submitted before the project can receive final clearance. The line is expected to traverse areas of ecological sensitivity, prompting concerns over potential impacts on local fauna.
The MoEFCC will review the proposed mitigation measures and, if satisfactory, move the project closer to completion. Until then, the railway authorities must develop and present a detailed plan addressing wildlife protection and habitat conservation.
