Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray urged citizens to reject any attempts that could inflame religious tensions ahead of the upcoming Ganeshotsav celebrations in 2026.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray issued a public warning on Wednesday, urging residents of the state to stay alert against any moves that could ignite religious tension ahead of the 2026 Ganeshotsav festivities.
He said that the festival, which draws millions of devotees across Mumbai and the wider region, should remain a celebration of unity and cultural heritage, not a flashpoint for communal discord.
Thackeray appealed to law‑enforcement agencies, community leaders and the general public to cooperate in preventing any provocation that might jeopardise public order during the celebrations.
The MNS leader reiterated the party’s stance against communal politics and pledged to monitor the situation closely to ensure a peaceful and harmonious Ganeshotsav.
His statement comes at a time when authorities are already heightening security measures for the large gatherings expected during the festival.
