Lalthantluangi, a rising star from Mizoram, has been selected for the national hockey squad and is set to make her debut at the upcoming World Cup.
Lalthantluangi, a 22‑year‑old midfielder from Mizoram, has earned a place in India’s men’s hockey squad for the 2024 World Cup in Lahore.
The player, who grew up in a small village near Aizawl, began playing hockey at the age of ten and quickly rose through the ranks of local clubs.
She was selected for the national camp in January after a standout performance in the Junior Nationals, where she scored six goals in six matches.
Co‑captain of the team, Lalthantluangi said she feels honoured to represent India on the world stage and is focused on contributing to the team’s success.
The Hockey Federation of India confirmed her inclusion in the final 18‑player roster ahead of the tournament, marking a historic moment for Mizoram’s representation in international hockey.
