Mizoram’s Chakma Autonomous District Council has announced it will implement the National Education Policy starting in 2027‑28 and will introduce a weekly Mizo Speaking Day to promote the local language.
The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in Mizoram has decided to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) beginning with the 2027‑28 academic year.
The council will align its curriculum, teacher training, and assessment methods with NEP guidelines, aiming to improve educational outcomes for the Chakma community.
In addition, the CADC will introduce a weekly Mizo Speaking Day, encouraging students and staff to use the Mizo language in school activities to preserve and promote local linguistic heritage.
The move is seen as a step toward integrating national educational reforms while safeguarding regional culture and ensuring that local students receive education in a language they understand.
