The Mizoram government announced it will float tenders in November for 45 roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase‑IV.

The state government of Mizoram has confirmed that it will invite bids in November for the construction of forty‑five rural roads under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY‑IV). The announcement was made by the Public Works Department as part of the ongoing effort to improve connectivity in remote villages across the hilly state.

The tender will cover a total of 45 road projects that have been identified in the state’s PMGSY‑IV work plan. These roads are expected to link isolated habitations to main highways, facilitating easier movement of people and goods and supporting local economic activities.

Funding for the projects comes from the central government’s PMGSY scheme, with the state responsible for implementation and supervision. Once the tenders are floated, qualified contractors will be invited to submit proposals, after which the contracts will be awarded based on technical and financial criteria.

Completion of the roads is slated for the next few years, aligning with the broader national goal of achieving all‑weather connectivity for rural areas. The initiative is anticipated to boost trade, improve access to health and education services, and reduce travel time for residents of Mizoram’s remote districts.
