The Mizoram government has asked the Union Ministry to raise its share of funding for power infrastructure in the North-East, citing rising project costs and the need for reliable electricity.

Mizoram’s state administration has formally approached the central government seeking a larger financial allocation for the North‑East power sector. The proposal, submitted to the Ministry of Power, argues that escalating costs of transmission and renewable projects require additional central support. State officials say the increased funding will enable the completion of pending sub‑station upgrades and the expansion of grid connectivity to remote villages. They also highlighted that a more reliable power supply is essential for attracting industry and improving livelihoods in the region. The central ministry has acknowledged receipt of the request and will review it alongside other North‑East development initiatives.
