Since the start of 2024, Mizoram has issued 494,000 Illegal Migrant Permits, with 934 of them currently held for illegal entry.

Mizoram's immigration department disclosed that a total of 4.94 lakh Illegal Migrant Permits (ILPs) have been issued in the state since the beginning of 2024. The data, released by the department, reflects the government's effort to regularise the status of migrants residing in the region.

An ILP is a document that allows foreign nationals to stay in India for a specified period, primarily for work or family reasons, while undergoing regular monitoring by authorities. The permits are part of the broader framework governing foreign entry and stay across the country.

Out of the total permits issued, 934 have been flagged for illegal entry, meaning the holders are suspected of breaching the conditions of their stay or entering without proper authorization. These cases are currently under investigation, and the department has indicated that appropriate legal action will be taken.

The figures underscore Mizoram's focus on tightening immigration controls while maintaining a systematic record of legitimate migrant entries. Officials said the data will help streamline future enforcement and ensure compliance with national immigration policies.
