Lalduhoma has urged Mizoram's government to draft a detailed plan to develop the state into a prominent silk production centre.
Lalduhoma, a senior political figure in Mizoram, publicly appealed to the state administration for a comprehensive roadmap that would position Mizoram as a leading silk hub in the Northeast.
He pointed out the region's untapped sericulture potential, noting the favourable climate and available mulberry‑cultivation land, and urged a coordinated approach involving farmers, research bodies and private investors to boost output and create jobs.
The demand aligns with central government efforts to promote sericulture, and state officials have signalled openness to incentives and infrastructure support, though no specific budget or timeline has been announced yet.
