The Mizoram government announced a comprehensive crop insurance scheme aimed at protecting farmers against financial losses due to natural calamities and market fluctuations.
The state government has unveiled a new crop insurance program designed to cover major crops against losses from floods, droughts, pest attacks and other unforeseen events. The scheme will provide timely payouts to farmers whose yields are adversely affected, thereby reducing their financial vulnerability.
Implementation will begin across all districts, with enrollment facilitated through local agricultural offices and farmer cooperatives. Farmers will be able to register for the insurance at minimal cost, with the government subsidizing a significant portion of the premiums.
