The Mizoram education department has released guidelines prohibiting any unauthorised recording of students within school premises.
Mizoram's education department announced a set of guidelines aimed at preventing any unauthorised filming or recording of students inside school premises. The directive, issued on Thursday, underscores the state's commitment to safeguarding minors' privacy and complying with national child protection norms.\n\nThe guidelines prohibit teachers, staff, and external parties from capturing video or audio of students without explicit written consent from parents or guardians. Schools are required to display the policy prominently, train staff on compliance, and establish a grievance mechanism for violations. Breaches may attract disciplinary action against the responsible individual and potential legal consequences under existing child welfare laws.\n\nState Education Minister Lalthlamuana Khiangte said the measures will be implemented across all government and private schools within the next month. He urged parents to cooperate and assured that the department will monitor adherence closely, with periodic audits scheduled to ensure compliance.
