The Mizoram state administration is reportedly reviewing a proposal to prolong the Mizotaxi registration window by an additional three months.

The Mizoram government is said to be evaluating a request to extend the current registration period for Mizotaxi services. Officials have indicated that the extension could add three months to the deadline, allowing more operators to complete the formalities. The move aims to boost participation in the state-run taxi scheme, which seeks to improve public transport connectivity across remote areas. No official date for the decision has been announced, and the proposal remains under consideration by the transport department.

If approved, the extended window would give prospective drivers and fleet owners additional time to submit required documents, undergo background checks, and obtain the necessary permits. The state has previously promoted Mizotaxi as a low-cost, locally managed alternative to private cabs, especially in hilly terrain where conventional services are limited.

Stakeholders, including driver unions and local transport associations, have welcomed the possibility of a longer registration period, citing challenges faced during the initial rollout. The transport ministry is expected to issue a formal notification should the extension be granted.
