Mizoram Congress Endorses Church Body’s Protest Against FCRA Amendment Bill

The Mizoram unit of the Indian National Congress has publicly backed a protest organized by a local church body against the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) Amendment Bill.

The bill seeks to amend the FCRA, a law that regulates foreign donations to Indian organisations. Religious groups have expressed concern that the changes could impose stricter limits on foreign funding.

Representatives of several Christian denominations in the state have staged rallies and called for a halt to the bill, arguing that it would affect their ability to receive international support.

In a statement, the Congress leadership said it would support the protest and raise the issue in the state assembly and at the national level.
