The Chief Minister of Mizoram has urged officers from outside the state, including IAS and IPS cadres, to acquire proficiency in the Mizo language and understand local customs.
The Chief Minister of Mizoram addressed a gathering of state and central government officers, urging those who are not native to the state to learn the Mizo language and familiarize themselves with local customs.
He highlighted that effective governance in Mizoram requires officers to communicate directly with the people in their own language, fostering trust and smoother implementation of policies.
The CM added that understanding Mizo culture would enable officers to better appreciate the community’s values and traditions, which is essential for sensitive decision‑making.
This call aligns with the state’s broader initiative to preserve and promote its cultural heritage, ensuring that administrative personnel are culturally attuned to the region they serve.
