Mohali – On the occasion of Diwali, the Mittal family chose to celebrate by planting saplings in their neighbourhood, embracing the concept of a "Green Diwali." This initiative reflects a growing preference for environmentally friendly festivities across the region.
The family members gathered early in the day, selected young trees and placed them in prepared pits, aiming to offset the typical waste associated with firecracker displays. While the exact number of saplings was not disclosed, the act underscores a commitment to greener urban spaces.
Local observers noted that such tree‑planting drives during festivals help raise awareness about air quality and waste reduction. The Mittal family hopes their effort will inspire others in Mohali and beyond to adopt similar sustainable practices for future celebrations.
The planting took place in a residential area of Mohali, with no official ceremony attached, emphasizing a personal, community‑driven approach to environmental stewardship.
