Minister Rijiju urges dialogue, not confrontation, to settle Northeast disputes

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, speaking to the press in Assam, reiterated that the government’s approach to the lingering border and ethnic tensions in the Northeast must be rooted in dialogue. He warned that confrontation could exacerbate mistrust among the states and communities, undermining development initiatives.

Rijiju highlighted recent efforts by the central government to bring together state leaders, tribal representatives, and civil society groups for constructive talks. He said these engagements aim to address issues ranging from resource sharing to infrastructure projects, ensuring that all stakeholders have a voice.

The minister concluded by urging political parties and local leaders to maintain a calm, cooperative stance, assuring that the Union will continue to facilitate negotiations until lasting solutions are achieved.
