Former Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has accused the National Conference party of fostering mistrust between the central government and the state.

Mehbooba Mufti, the former chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir, said that the National Conference (NC) is responsible for the growing mistrust between the central government and the state. She made the remarks during a press conference, highlighting how the NC’s recent stance has strained relations.

Mufti pointed to the party’s refusal to cooperate on key issues as a major factor in the deteriorating dialogue. She argued that the NC’s position has made it difficult for the Centre to implement its policies in the region.

The comments come amid ongoing discussions about Jammu & Kashmir’s special status and the implementation of Article 370. While the central government seeks to restore normalcy, the NC has remained critical of the government’s approach.

In her statement, Mufti called for a more constructive dialogue and urged the NC to engage positively to bridge the divide.
