The state government says the construction of the new Meghalaya Legislative Assembly complex is on track to finish before December.
Meghalaya officials have indicated that the new Legislative Assembly building, currently under construction in Shillong, is likely to be completed by the end of the calendar year. The announcement, reported by Syllad, reflects confidence that the project will stay within its revised schedule after earlier delays.
The modern complex is intended to replace the aging facilities that have housed the state legislature for decades, providing upgraded chambers, office spaces and public galleries. Completion before year‑end will allow the assembly to convene in the new premises for the upcoming session, reducing the need for temporary arrangements.
State authorities have not disclosed the final cost, but the timely finish is expected to bolster administrative efficiency and symbolize Meghalaya's development agenda. The government plans to inaugurate the building shortly after construction concludes, pending final inspections.
