The Meghalaya government announced a complete overhaul of the District Selection Committee recruitment system to improve transparency and efficiency.

The state government of Meghalaya issued a formal notification stating that the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment mechanism will undergo a full restructuring. The decision aims to address long‑standing concerns about the fairness and speed of the hiring process for state posts.

Officials said the overhaul will introduce updated eligibility criteria, a digitised application portal and stricter monitoring of selection panels. These changes are intended to minimise delays and eliminate any perception of bias in the recruitment cycle.

The notification also indicated that a task force comprising senior bureaucrats and external experts will draft the new guidelines, which will be released before the next recruitment round. The government has pledged to keep candidates informed through regular updates on its official website.

While the announcement focused on DSC recruitment, the Chief Minister concurrently clarified the state's teacher appointment policy, underscoring that the two issues are being handled separately.
